Reflection on Research...

I handed my questionnaire out to 30 people. The answers will hopefully give me more of an idea of what my target audience wants.

Below is some analysis of the answers given:

Over 25% of my audience never purchases film magazine. Therefore it is in my best interest to try and persuade them to read my magazine by making the cover look as effective as I can.

50% said that the magazine should be published once a month. I feel this is good as most film magazines are published this often.

Roughly 18% would be willing to spend £1.01-£2 on the magazine. This is the usual price that people would pay for a magazine. I will base the price of my magazine on these findings.

I asked what the colour scheme of the magazine should be and the two answers that were the most popular were: black and red, and blue, white and black. I feel that using red may make it look more like a horror film. However, I will possibly try both colours and see which one looks better.

The feature that most appeals to the audience is the image. Therefore, I need to make sure that my image is very effective and will want to make my audience read the magazine.

64% wanted the image to be of the villain. Originally I was unsure on which character to use so this audience research has confirmed that I will use the man.

My audience wanted the articles to be on reviews, cinema dates, ratings and upcoming reviews. Therefore, I will try and use these articles on my cover.

Reflection on Research...

I handed my questionnaire out to 30 people. Although this is only a sample and answers may not be representative, I am still using the answers to help give me more of an idea of what my audience will want.
Below is some analysis of the questions:

Roughly 75% of the respondents said that posters for upcoming films encourage them to see that film. This is the kind of response I expected to get and lets me know that it is worthwhile doing the poster to attract my audience.

I asked my audience what they think is the main purpose of a film poster. 6 people said that the poster should be entertaining, however 19 people said that it should be a mixture of informative and pursuading as well as entertaing. I need to make sure that I include important information such as release date and possibly actors names. I also need to make sure that it is "thrilling" to look at so that it entertains and persuades people to see the film.

21 people said that when looking at film posters the thing that appeals to them most is the main image. This means that I will make the image the largest thing on the screen and it needs to be interesting so that it attracts the readers eye. The title was not voted as the most appealing thing however I still need to make sure that it is interesting and relates to the chosen genre.

A high proportion of my respondents said that a tag line would make them want to see the film even more. I will need to brainstorm ideas on this, making sure that it relates to the story in my trailer.

63% of the people I asked wanted to see an image of the villain on the poster. I like the idea of this as I think it will have a better effect than having the victim on the poster.

Problems with Adobe Premiere...

Unfortunately I have been having problems with my video because it will not export the work that I have done so far. This has caused my main task to be delayed because I cannot upload to YouTube and therefore get audience feedback.

What this means...

Until this problem gets resolved I am going to continue to do my ancillary tasks.

Feedback From Audience...

This is the feedback that I got for my first draft.
Although they liked the idea and the story line, they felt that it didn't make much sense and the two locations were confusing.

What I will do next...
Following this feedback I will edit my trailer and try to reorganise the clips so that the trailer doesn't confuse my audience.

First Edit...

This is the first edit of my video. I have not used many transition effects and I am not happy with the sound at the moment, so I will continue to edit my footage to try and improve it.

Initial Thoughts on Premiere...

I have started to use Adobe Premiere and am struggling with it as it is a software that I have never used before. I find it very complicated to try and learn how to use so I am going to research how to do basic things such as cutting down clips. I think it may be more useful to me if I can find YouTube clips, that way I can get a visual demonstration of it.

Editing...

I have now gone through all of my media footage so now I am ready to begin the editing process of my trailer. I will be using Adobe Premiere to do this. I have not used this program before so I do not know how to use it, however if I have any problems with it I will research them.

Equipment used and a little behind the scenes...

Because I don't have a camera I decided to use my phone instead.
I have the iPhone 4s and was actually really surprised at how good the quality of filming was on it.
I also used this to take some pictures and was also pleased with the outcome of them.
I would use this again for similar projects in the future as it was really easy to use and upload images and video files and it gives good results.

I improvised and used a stool to keep the camera still for certain clips.

I climbed a tree to get an effective birdseye view/high angle shot.

Post-Filming...

I finished all the filming that needed to be done over the weekend and am very pleased with the outcome.

Before filming, my actors got changed into their costumes, so that they fit their character profiles. I put make-up on my main actress, Molly, which was black eyeliner, mascara, a little face make-up and lip gloss.

I filmed the park scene first, in the morning as I wanted as much light as possible so that my actors could be seen clearly. I filmed lots of shots and improvised by filming some clips in trees so that I could get a Birdseye view of the park and the actors.

Next I filmed the computer scene inside. I asked my main actress to change into pajamas as I wanted her character to seem youthful and innocent. I also changed her makeup into something lighter, which consisted of a little face makeup, pink blusher and a little mascara. Her hair for this scene was off her face in a pony tail.

I waited until right at the end of the day to get the last of my filming done. I wanted dark lighting because it made "The Man's" character seem even more sinister and make his identity hidden.

I am very pleased with how my filming went as everything went as planned. I made sure that I filmed more than I needed to so that I have more footage to manipulate when I edit.
