Things To Consider Before Filming...

  • Asking for permission for filming at location (if neccessary)
  • Making sure cameras are fully charged
  • Making sure I know how to use the equipment
  • Ensuring I don't leave equipment behind at the location
  • Making sure I refer to my storyboard all throughout filming
  • Having a task list for everthing I want to achieve during the shoot and in the right order
  • Making sure I have enough footage, it's better to have too much than too little
  • Making sure all actors know what time they are needed and where as well as what to bring
  • Having a back-up plan incase the weather is bad
  • Taking time to set up shots
  • Shooting the same shot from a variety of different angles
  • Considering background noise
  • Playing back footage to make sure it is how I want it and that I have no left any equipment or other things in the shot
  • If there is sunlight, I must make sure that my shadow is not in the shot
  • If there is more light in front of the subject, put more light in front, unless it is for a certain effect
  • Making sure there is not a lot of background noise.
  • Making sure actors speak loud and clearly
  • Record a few seconds before and after each take
  • Film shots from a range of angles
  • Making sure the background is simple, so that the viewer's attention is not diverted
